Daughter of two important Titans, Kronos and Rhea, Hera married her brother Zeus (Jupiter), who overthrew the once ruling Titans to become king of the gods, and father of gods and men. Hera was mother to both gods and mortals. The protector of marriage, women, and childbirth (motherhood), Hera was known to be argumentative and extremely jealous of her husband’s lovers, taking terrible revenge on his partners and their children.
